Partners in business, and life.

The Design Cupboard is run by Lisa & Elliot Daniel. As partners in both business & life, this team works together like no other. With unique talents & passions, every project has a heightened sense of creativity & professionalism.

+ Lisa Daniel - The Interior Designer

Lisa Daniel has more than 20 years’ experience in design including interiors, drafting, cabinet design, hospitality and award winning Eco-tourism projects.

She uses a holistic, collaborative and thoughtful approach to each client brief to facilitate enduring design  solutions. She combines this with her bold sense of aesthetics which encompasses the classics, the ornate, the  contemporary, the unique, the eclectic, the bold…….and the unexpected.

Lisa’s strong understanding of what not only looks good but is welcoming and functional in a commercial or public space is drawn from her long and successful background in hospitality.

Before moving to Coffs Harbour in 2016 she established and managed award-winning food and coffee venues in Melbourne that featured in national press including The Age newspaper, and won a number of local government and industry prizes.

Lisa is a qualified interior designer and draftsperson, graduating with top honours in both fields. Her work spans commercial fit-outs including restaurants, cafes, hair salons, office building design, eco accommodation design, real estate offices, showrooms and display home styling through to working with architects, builders and developers on numerous residential and commercial projects.

Passionate about sustainable design, Lisa draws on the talent pool of local craftsmen and artists so that each commercial project is more than a beautiful, functional solution – it is relevant to its locality, a reflection of the very best of the region and triggering in customers an immediate emotional response and connection to a space.

Australian Elliot Daniel has led film crews around the world as he presented/directed multiple 1/2 hour travel documentaries for a 1 hour travel show he hosted live and broadcast out of London.

His work has been broadcast on the BBC, he has created TVC’s for companies for the web and has produced various short films for charities. His photography and travel features have appeared in newspapers and magazines in London and Australia and his images have appeared in Guidebooks around the world.

From eating shallow fried tarantulas in Cambodia, to minueting with Contessa’s at the Venice Carnivale, from hitching a ride on a bullock cart in Burma to spending the night on an insect infested straw bed in a stable with a baby orphaned elephant in Nairobi, Kenya, it is this ‘get the shot no matter what’ attitude that has seen Mr Daniel work all around the globe. He is not shy of ‘danger’ either where in one of the ‘Top Ten most dangerous countries in the world’ he spent six weeks presenting & directing a 1 hour ‘Broadcast’ nominated film in Yemen for the BBC.

Elliot has appeared regularly on ITN’s Channel 5 Breakfast show in London as a travel Expert and was a regular speaker at numerous large conferences in London, variously: Independant Travellers World (3 day travel conferences which drew over 30,000+ visitors), Daily Telegraph Adventure Travel and Sports Show, TNT Magazines Travel Writing Seminars.

He has written a chapter on Thailand in ‘Intrepid Journeys – Adventurous Travels in South East Asia’, published by La Belle Aurore – a collection of 16 travel stories written by such authors as; Wanderlust Magazine (London) Editor Lyn Hughes and Sunday Times (London) Mark Hodson. He has also written a chapter on Yemen in ‘Intrepid Arabia – Imaginative Travels in the Middle East’, published by La Belle Aurore, with stories by such writers as best selling novelist William Dalrymple and Time Out Magazine (London) Peter Carty.

After graduating with honours in a Business degree (Tourism major), Elliot shed his books for a backpack and worked as an adventure travel guide based in South East Asia. Transitioning, he then studied and trained as a photojournalist for many years in the field with one of London’s multi award winning Travel Photojournalist’s. As a film-maker he’s worked closely with International Producer Director – Dean Cornish – documentary maker, corporate, TVC’s & popular reality formats.

Elliot now calls the Coffs Coast home (“why wouldn’t you ….  it’s paradise”) yet will work anywhere. He can be in Sydney in an hour and Melbourne in a couple of hours.  He is currently working on a music video, a TV ad for a travel and tourism client, editing an architecture video web TVC for a Real Estate client and finalising the edit of a fashion shoot captured recently.

Mr Daniel loves telling stories and creating beautiful imagery. He will work around the clock to “get you what you want” as a client.
